The problems we are usually brought in to fix
Most businesses do not come to us asking for SEO. They come with one of these.
Competitors outrank you
Your business is as good or better, but smaller competitors appear above you in Google and in the map pack. Usually a mix of weak page structure, thin service pages and a neglected Google Business Profile.
Traffic but no enquiries
People arrive and leave. The pages attract the wrong search intent, the next step is unclear, or the site is slow and awkward on a phone.
You are invisible in AI answers
Buyers ask ChatGPT or read an AI Overview instead of clicking. If your site is not structured so those systems can understand and cite it, you are not in the conversation.
A website that fights you
Pages take a developer to change, the structure has grown by accident, and adding the content you need is harder than it should be.
You only sell within a few miles
You need customers in your own town, not national traffic. That is a different job: proximity, reviews, local content and consistent business information.
Nobody can explain the last agency
Reports full of charts, no clear link to enquiries, and no plain answer to what changed this month or why. We work the other way round.
Search and AI visibility
Being found where people actually look
Search is no longer one box. People use Google, maps, marketplaces and now AI assistants. These services work together rather than in isolation.
Websites and conversion
A website that search engines and customers both get on with
Rankings only matter if the page does its job when someone lands on it. We build and improve sites with both in mind.
More enquiries from the same traffic

How we work
Four steps, and you can stop after any of them
01
Understand the business
What you sell, what a good customer is worth, where they are, and what you have already tried. Marketing decisions that ignore margin and capacity waste money.
02
Audit and research
Technical health, content and page structure, local signals, competitor pages that currently rank, and the questions your buyers are asking.
03
Agree a prioritised plan
A short, ordered list: what we do first, what it should change, and how long it should take. You see the reasoning, not just the invoice.
04
Deliver, measure, adjust
Work shipped in visible increments, reported against enquiries and revenue where the data exists, not just impressions.
Areas we cover
Working with businesses the length of Scotland
Search behaviour is not the same in Aberdeen as it is in Paisley. Each area page explains the local market and what we can do for businesses there.

What does Rank Magnus do?
Rank Magnus is a digital marketing agency working with businesses across Scotland. We cover search engine optimisation, local SEO, technical SEO, content, generative engine optimisation, website design and development, and conversion rate optimisation. Most projects start with a review of your website and current visibility, followed by a prioritised plan.
How much does SEO cost in Scotland?
Most Scottish small and medium businesses budget somewhere between a few hundred and a few thousand pounds a month for ongoing SEO, depending on how competitive the market is and how much work the website needs. A one-off audit or a fixed-scope project is often the better first step. Our pricing page explains how we scope and cost work.
How long does SEO take to work?
For a local service business, meaningful movement in local rankings usually takes three to six months. Competitive national or ecommerce terms commonly take six to twelve months. Technical fixes can show results sooner because they change how quickly pages are crawled and indexed. Anyone promising fixed rankings on a fixed date is guessing.
Do you only work with businesses in Scotland?
Scotland is our focus and where most of our work is based, but we also work with UK businesses outside Scotland. Everything is delivered remotely, with calls and shared reporting, so location is rarely a limitation.
Do I need a new website before starting SEO?
Often not. Many sites can be fixed rather than replaced. A rebuild makes sense when the platform is slow, the structure works against search, or the site cannot support the pages you need. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in before you spend money.
What is GEO and do I need it?
Generative engine optimisation is the work of making your business easy for AI systems such as Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity to understand, quote and attribute. It overlaps heavily with good SEO: clear structure, clear answers, consistent business information and strong entity signals. If buyers in your market research online, it is worth doing.
